Shouldn't the default always be three interfaces?
1. Any non registered vistor restricted views and items. (Articles and News Items for subscribers only should not even be shown.)
2. An interface for registered users ( store, articles, etc..)
3. Administration (backend - work flow etc..)
In certain cases you wouldn't necessarily want a vistor to register and have access to all registered user areas.
