If you have probems with sorting on special characters, like æøå, you can change the characterset in the file /etc/my.cnf, and add:
default-character-set=danish
In the block [mysqld] to get the norwegian characters correctly sorted.

if any one knows how to sort danish alphabets correctly from mysql 4.0.18.Now only a -z characters are ordered properly but other three in different order
