It is hoped there will soon be an online editor for linux.
The technical reasons for not having one are reducing. There are several open source projects working on a WYSIWYG text area editor such as Bitfluxeditor and htmlArea.
eZHtmlarea and htmlArea
There is presently an
eZ contribution that takes
htmlArea
to produce ezxmltext compliant HTML. From what i have read this version is good but needs work.
Bitflux and Mozile
Likewise
Bitflux is currently at an alpha version but it sounds promising. Bitflux uses
Mozile which depends on your browser being a derivative of Mozilla. By using Mozilla the online editor is instantly available on a wide range of platforms.
The online editor for windows is a commercial product. The options considered so far for linux would provide a free alternative. Is this a problem for eZ?
Do these alternatives support the present functions of the Windows OE? Can they be extended to support the eZ specific functions?
Please discuss online editors further in the Suggestion forum thread.
