The discussion for the linux online editor is relevant.

The only discussion seen regarding the online editor on macintosh mentions that current 7x OE doesnt work:
Please ensure online editor work with non-Microsoft software. This is strange since the OE is not advertised to work only on Windows but this seems to be the case.

The Asbru Web Content Editor http://editor.asbrusoft.com supports WYSIWYG editing on Safari.

Safari will soon support WYSIWYG editing as well

A java based editor should work fine on a Macintosh, not to mention on Linux as well. Editize does already perform very well (http://www.editize.com/), but cost money (about US$150). Futhermore, I am not certain if it is XML compliant...
